Merrimack Parks & Recreation

It's never too early for teens to start planning for the future and building their resumes!!

Last summer the Merrimack Parks & Recreation Department redesigned its Counselor in Training Program. Our program focuses on helping teens prepare for the future by making sure they leave with the vital resources and skills needed to enter the working world. Jobs in camps offer invaluable
skill-building, leadership, training, and enrichment opportunities that can’t be found anywhere else. The program will be focus on teaching participants the skills necessary to be successful working with children and becoming a camp counselor. Through a hands on learning experience teens will get the chance to plan and implement camp activities for various age groups. In addition o
ver the course of each session participants will learn how to write a professional resume, practice interview techniques and gain valuable leadership experiences that will enhance their job marketability. The belief is that participants will leave not only as future camp counselor but also with the skills and resources needed to advance as young professionals. As a special treat campers will get to explore a fun New Hampshire attraction on one field trip adventure each week.
