The Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting application for the following positions for Summer 2018!


Waterfront Director: (Full-Time Seasonal)

​The Waterfront Director coordinates the various aspects of the seasonal waterfront operations including: organizing and conducting on-the-job-training for lifeguards, supervising and scheduling Lifeguards & Water Safety Instructors, and reporting maintenance and other needs at the waterfront. Performs rescue maneuvers, CPR, and First Aid as needed, and takes command during emergency situations. Ensures that maximum safety precautions are practiced and rules and regulations are followed by all waterfront patrons. Assumes responsibility for care of all equipment and supplies used in daily operations. Applicant must be at least 21 years of age and have a current lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross, YMCA or similar organization. 


Counselor in Training Coordinator: (Full-Time Seasonal) 

​The Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Coordinator directs the Counselor in Training Program for 14 & 15 year olds. The program will be focus on teaching CIT’s the skills necessary to be successful working with children and learning to become a camp counselor. Through hands on learning experience teens will get the chance to plan and implement camp activities for various age groups. In addition over the course of each session participants will learn how to write a professional resume, practice interview techniques and gain valuable leadership experiences that will enhance their job marketability. Candidate must be at least 21 years of age and have experience working with 14 and 15 year olds.


Arts & Crafts Activity Specialists: (Full-Time Seasonal)

The Arts & Crafts Activity Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing and leading daily Arts & Crafts activities for children aged 4 - 14. Candidate must be at least 18 years of age and should have experience teaching arts & crafts activities to children and have a deep understanding of age appropriate activities.


Senior Camp Counselor:(Full-Time Seasonal)
Senior Camp Counselors are primarily responsible for the care of their children in their assigned cabin group. Counselors spend their day leading their group to various activities. During activity periods these counselors attend and participate in each activity that the group does. Senior Camp Counselors are 18 and older staff members who provide the overall supervision for their assigned bunk and who supervise the Junior Counselors in their assigned bunk.

The minimum age for any paid position with the Town of Merrimack is 16.
